BuildersMeet Launches New AI-Powered Sustainable Supply Chain Platform for Ontario Construction SMEs
BuildersMeet is pleased to announce the activation of its AI-Powered Sustainable Supply Chain Platform for Ontario Construction SMEs, supported through the OCI CIT - Technology Access Program (TAP). Starting on May 22, 2026, this project will develop a smart digital platform that connects builders, contractors, and suppliers while helping small construction businesses make better decisions when sourcing building materials. Inspired by Evergreen’s vision for healthier, more sustainable communities, the platform will include a Building Material Library with digital material passports that score products based on sustainability, carbon impact, salvage potential, competitive pricing, access to discounts, and suitability for Canadian construction culture and market needs. Through this initiative, BuildersMeet aims to support Ontario’s construction SMEs with AI-powered tools that improve material discovery, supplier visibility, affordability, and greener procurement decisions.
BuildersMeet is pleased to announce the launch of its new project, the AI-Powered Sustainable Supply Chain Platform for Ontario Construction SMEs, supported by the OCI CIT - Technology Access Program (TAP). The project officially started on May 22, 2026, and will continue until November 22, 2026. During this period, BuildersMeet will develop a practical digital solution to help Ontario construction businesses make better decisions when sourcing building materials. This initiative is connected to the broader vision of building healthier, greener, and more sustainable communities. Evergreen, a national non-profit based in Canada, focuses on transforming public spaces into places that support healthier people, stronger communities, and a healthier planet. Evergreen Brick Works is also described as a climate-ready place where people can experience and learn sustainable practices that support the cities of the future. This vision strongly aligns with BuildersMeet’s goal of helping the construction sector adopt more sustainable, technology-driven solutions. Through this project, BuildersMeet will develop an AI-powered supply chain platform for building materials. The platform will help builders, contractors, suppliers, and small construction businesses connect in a smarter digital environment. It will support users in searching, comparing, and selecting materials based on project needs, supplier information, sustainability considerations, and business value. A key part of the platform will be a Building Material Library. This library will provide a digital material passport for building products, helping users better understand the value and impact of each material before making purchasing decisions. Each material passport will include a score based on several important factors. One factor will be sustainability, including how green the material is, how much carbon is created during production, and whether the material can be reused, recycled, or salvaged at the end of its lifecycle. This will help businesses consider not only the upfront cost of a product, but also its environmental impact. Another factor will be price competitiveness. Many small construction businesses do not have the same purchasing power as larger companies. BuildersMeet aims to help these businesses access more competitive pricing, compare supplier options, and find opportunities for better discounts. By improving access to supplier information and material options, the platform can help small businesses reduce costs and make stronger procurement decisions. The material passport will also consider how well each product fits with Canadian construction needs, expectations, climate conditions, and business culture. This is important because a material may be sustainable or affordable, but it must also be practical for use in the Canadian market. BuildersMeet will focus on helping users identify materials that are suitable, reliable, and aligned with local construction practices. For suppliers, the platform will create a new opportunity to showcase their products, increase visibility, and connect with construction SMEs that are actively looking for building materials. For builders and contractors, it will provide a more organized and intelligent way to discover materials, compare options, and make decisions with greater confidence. This project represents an important milestone in BuildersMeet’s mission to support construction businesses with modern digital tools, AI-powered services, and sustainable business solutions. By combining artificial intelligence, supplier collaboration, material data, and sustainability scoring, BuildersMeet aims to help Ontario’s construction sector move toward a smarter and greener future.
